Since September 2016 Stephi is co-coordinator of the GlyCocan project, together with Manfred Wuhrer: she will be in charge of the scientific coordination of the project and keep an overview of the reporting activities.

Stephi graduated in January 2017 with a thesis titled “Glycomic signatures of colorectal cancer” . She worked in the Glycomics group at the Center for Proteomics and Metabolomics, LUMC, under prof. Wuhrer’s supervision. In her project she investigated colorectal cancer associated glycosylation changes using mass spectrometry and their potential as clinical biomarkers. She succeeded in establishing her own research line on the role of glycans in colorectal cancer. Her work made a very valuable contribution to the Highglycan project from which she got funded. Importantly, her pioneering work is what allowed us to establish the current GlyCoCan European Training Network (ETN). Her work is also at the basis of joint projects in close collaboration with the Departments of Pathology and Surgery at the LUMC.

Since August 2016 Stephi has leading role (as post-doc) in the mass spectrometry imaging research line (including supervision of two technicians, preparation of relevant grant applications).
